One of the key elements to developing this former special housing area (SHA) out at Clarks Beach was to retain the coastal character the existing township prides itself on, and to bring the ‘beach’ back to Clarks Beach, which is unaccessible in a lot of locations.

A main central swale now runs through this greenfield development, treating stormwater whilst providing open space amenity and increasing ecological value to the area. It starts at the southern end of the project area, and discharges into the estuary at the north.

Some beach access is already provided, whilst future stages will bring more reserve and access areas along the coast.
